The first keynote of the ACRL conference was given by Tiffany Shlain who is an award-winning documentary director. She recently created a film called Connected which discusses the role that technology is now playing in our lives in both keeping us connected and disconected us from each other. She spoke of the tendency for today’s information seekers to go “wide” when looking for information and the vital role of librarians in pushing seeker to look deeper. She spoke of the power and influence of technology and media to shape new ideas. Also spoke of promoting days of “unplugged” where we reconnect face-to-face.
